Hey! My name is Annie (Anniemort) and I’m a 30 year old graphic designer/advertiser. I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2017 with a BFA in advertising.
I started practicing graphic design from a young age. When I was 12 and still logging onto the internet through AOL dial-up, I taught myself Photoshop and HTML/CSS to create my own Myspace layouts. I self-taught until my senior year of high school, when I was lucky enough to be accepted and transfer into an alternative design program off campus. From there I was accepted into SCAD in Savannah, GA on a scholarship to complete my BFA. After graduating in 2017, I moved to Dallas, TX to being my career.
In my spare time, I eat a lot of apples and watch horror movies (My favorites are Evil Dead and As Above So Below!). My favorite color is pink and my favorite spice girl is Scary. "Dookie" was easily the most iconic punk rock record of its time. I once made a tweet with 12k likes and 10k retweets. I'm a gemini, but I like to think I'm not the bad kind. I like doing really bad karaoke, like maybe too much. My go-to songs are either “I Try” by Macy Gray or “Chop Suey!” by System of a Down. I have 2 cats (Punk & Robot) and 2 dogs (Moogle & Chili Dog). I’ve also probably watched the entirety of Gossip Girl 100 times by now.
WHERE DID "ANNIEMORT" COME FROM?
I’ve never been too hyped about my name. The world needed another Smith? It always felt a litte boring (no offense to any Smith's out there! I have a family full of them!).
So when it came time to make my first portfolio back in high school, “AnnieSmithDesigns.com” just wasn’t doing it for me. Then I remembered an old nickname from middle school: Anniemort. It was lovingly bestowed upon me because I was extremely pale and had zero visible eyebrows. (Don’t worry! I’ve since acquired some.) Still pale, still designing, and finally leaning into the nickname. And so, Anniemort was born. The woman, the myth, the portfolio URL/personal brand.
